I met Ofri Raviv in a PyWeb-Il meetup nine years ago and talked him into starting Open Knesset. Ofri took the BDFL hat and I took charge of the front-end and community development, starting a weekly dev meetup begining on my roof and than at google's campus.

Open Knesset was a wild ride, including 4,243 commits from 73 contributor, meeting with Rivlin, the Knesset Chairman, a consulting contract and a bribe offer. Eventually we ran out of energy and The site is down since May 2018.

Riding Open Knesset, I learned a lot about the Israeli Democracy, community development and gov.il software and in this talk I'll present the mistakes we made and the lessons learnt.
