Starting from versatile reactive programming libraries, and growing up to huge data streaming platforms scaling to thousands of nodes, streaming is becoming an important idiom occupying multiple niches—from frontend to backend, from elegant approaches to dealing with I/O to large scale distributed data processing.

The talk will put a spotlight on solutions from two ends of the spectrum: RxJS and Akka Streams as reactive programming libraries, and Apache Flink as a streaming data platform. We will discuss similarities, and also where those similarities end.
