On our path to professional mastery, there is no substitute for good mentoring, the form of teaching that occurs in a one on one, Master-Apprentice setting. Often, though, and despite our best intentions as mentors, we fail at it miserably - leaving everyone involved frustrated and unmotivated to either teach or learn.

Can we do mentoring better? I believe we can. But only if we improve our understanding of the inherent challenges that derive from sharing knowledge across human beings.

In this talk we’ll shortly discuss some core aspects of the problem, we’ll dive into a few characteristics of the problem, and in the end, we will come with a few remedies as well.
